Raised in Qatar, I moved to India to pursue a career in physiotherapy. After graduating from Sancheti Institute's College of Physiotherapy, Pune; I relocated to Mumbai, where I began my love affair with fitness.
I’m going to begin my story with a confession. All my life I’ve been a couch potato. So after physiotherapy when I got into fitness, everyone who knew me were, “Oh my god! Anuja and fitness!” They could never imagine that I chose fitness as my life path.
Fitness was never in the books for me. Infact I didn’t start working out till my mid-twenties. What made me take a hard look at my life and make a U-turn was that during college, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis.
After trying special diets, restricting myself to home food only and trying to cut down on stress levels, I still wasnt able to break the shackles. Thats when I joined a gym. I started working out, but got bored easily due to the monotonous workouts. But what stuck, was the feel good effect post workouts. I started working out at home and slowly and steadily began my journey towards being healthy. As I got fitter and healthier , I felt good about myself and regained my confidence.I began working on my fitness studio concept.
I attained multiple certifications in different forms of mobilisation techniques and fitness training.
In 2012, I began Anjul’s-The Lifestyle Club, founded on the belief that everyone deserves to be fit, healthy and confident. We encourage a healthy lifestyle and overall positive well-being. Our team offers a variety of group training classes along with professional nutrition, wellness and health facilities. All our workout programs are designed keeping in mind that people in the community have health issues. All our workouts are high intensity, low impact and consist of various physiotherapeutic variations for clients who have restricting injuries or health conditions. We believe that fitness and wellness can be inculcated in every phase of life, and we motivate our members to adopt healthy lifestyle behaviours which will last a lifetime. Our multi layered programmes focus not only on physical, but also on emotional, intellectual and social well-being.
My clients saw amazing results, and began to tell their friends and spread an amazing positive message. I soon realised that this was becoming bigger than I had imagined, and more women started coming in.
I continued my training and had the privilege to learn from the fitness industry's top instructors and trainers, such as Dr. Emily Splichal (creator of Barefoot Training Specialist) and Nelson Chong (creator of Rehab Hero).
In 2016, after 10 years in the field of physiotherapy and fitness, I have the honor of being India's 3rd Master Instructor in Barefoot Training.
Fitness and health has become my passion, and I now get to help people every single day. Having the ability to touch so many lives through my fitness and nutrition guidelines has been the most rewarding part of my practice! I hope to inspire as many people as possible to be the healthiest.
